| The objective of this work was to evaluate the agronomic traits of coffee tree progenies. The experiment was set in Ouro Verde Farm, located at Campos Altos County, MG. Twenty three coffee progenies and seven control cultivars were used. These progenies are from the fourth generation of crossing between Timor Hybrid and Catuaí. The experiment was set in a randomized block design with four replicates, a total of 120 plots with 8 plants per plot. The yield of processed coffee sacks ha-1 was evaluated in eight crop years from the 2003 to the 2011 harvests. | Establishment of germplasm banks of ornamental species, together with breeding programs is fundamental for the growth of competitive cultivars of flowers that are the same or better quality than those developed in other countries. Around 100 progenies from a crossing between the cultivars Dendrobium 'Tong Chai Gold' and Dendrobium 'Black Jack' were obtained, from 50 plants which were selected and grown in pots in greenhouse conditions to evaluate the blooming stage and to select the progenies. | Twenty and twenty three seed provenances of Grevillea robusta A. Cunn. were imported from Australia, in 1993 and 1994, respectively, by Embrapa Florestas. This genetic germoplasm was utilized for starting a breeding program in the states of Paraná, São Paulo and Mato Grosso do Sul. In 2002, twenty eight genotypes were selected in the Presidente Castelo Branco-PR district whose seeds were utilized for the installing second generation progenies test in Avaré-SP. | Twenty and twenty three seed provenances of Grevillea robusta Cunn were imported from Australia, in 1993 and 1994 respectively, by Embrapa Florestas. This genetic germoplasm was utilized for starting a breeding program in the State of Paraná, São Paulo and Mato Grosso do Sul. Total surface occupied by Grevillea experiments managed by Embrapa Florestas reachs 27,13 ha, being provenance tests, embracing 11,22 ha, installed in 1994, and progenies tests, comprising 15,91 ha, planted in 1994. | Pinus patula Schiede ex Schltdl. et. Cham., es una especie nativa de México ampliamente utilizada en plantaciones comerciales en diferentes regiones del mundo; la especie ha sido mejorada en el extranjero, y es necesario evaluar el material al ser reintroducido a su país de origen. | Pinus patulaSchiede ex Schltdl. et Cham. es un pino endémico de México mejorado en el extranjero por ser de crecimiento rápido y debe evaluarse al ser reintroducido. En este estudio se comparó el desarrollo de progenies con diferentes niveles de mejora genética en dos ensayos en ambientes contrastantes: Aquixtla, Puebla, a 2930 m (S1) y Acaxochitlán, Hidalgo, a 2260 m de elevación (S2). A los 6 años de edad se evaluó la supervivencia y a los 5 y 6 años el diámetro normal (DN), la altura total (ALT) y el volumen del tronco (VOL) de 36 familias mejoradas en Colombia y Sudáfrica (grupo M) y de 36 nativas seleccionadas fenotípicamente (grupo S). | Se compara el desarrollo de progenies de Pinus patula Schiede ex Schltdl. et Cham.de seis años de edad con diferentes niveles de mejora genética en dos sitios en ambientes contrastantes: Aquixtla, Puebla a 2,930 m (S1) y Acaxochitlán, Hidalgo a 2,260 m (S2). Primero se evaluaron 36 familias mejoradas en Colombia y Sudáfrica (grupo M) y de 36 nativas (grupo Selectas, S). A los 6 años, la supervivencia fue de 72.7% en S1 y 90% en S2. Las progenies del grupo M fueron estadísticamente superiores en el volumen del tronco en S1 (4.3 vs. 3.6 dm3), mientras que no lo fueron en S2 (10.7 vs. 13.5 dm3).
